Bowling and Me.
I returned to bowling following a 43 year hiatus
because I was looking for an activity that I could do that would provide
exercise. Sure, I had bowled
about 6 or 7 or 8 times during that 43 year break but only on a very rare
occasions and they were social in nature. Bowling in the modern era is very
different from what it was about four and one half decades ago.
The lanes are
synthetic and the concept of oil patterns are a very big part of the game.
The Professional Bowler's Association (PBA) uses five oil patterns for
tournaments which are in scoring ease order, Cheetah (highest scoring),
Shark, Viper, Scorpion and Chameleon (lowest scoring). There are house
conditions and many bowlers who bowl great in various bowling
establishments, simply cannot contend with PBA tournament conditions.
Today one needs an arsenal of
bowling balls to deal with changing lane conditions and although scoring
tends to be much higher than it was in my early years of bowling, the
challenge of bowling is perhaps more interesting than ever. Anyone
interested in learning more about bowling today and its conditions can find
an enormous amount of information on the Internet by merely doing web
searches. In the meanwhile, I want to thank my friends and visitors
for viewing my bowling pages. I hope you find them interesting and
entertaining. If I can help anyone who wants to know more about
bowling please get in touch with me via my Email at

My
Arsenal of Bowling Balls
My Bowling Balls are drilled by Tommy
Jordan or Ricky Warren who are the resident Pros at Bowler City. Tommy
Jordan is also the new owner of the Pro Shop. You will
find more information about Tommy and Ricky by clicking here to reach my
New Friends
section. All balls are 16 pounds with the exception of the Columbia Momentum
and Roto Grip Cell and the Columbia 300 Arch rival which are 15 pounds. I am having a good deal of
success with the 15 pound balls in that I am getting a better rev rate and
thus a strong finish on my strike shot which is producing some very good
scores. |

versatile. Change the surface and change the ball motion.

Columbia Momentum Bowling

Arc
Hook Rating: Oil -
40, Backend - 30
RG Differential: .040
(Medium Flare) on a scale of .000-.080 Low Flare-High Flare

on a scale of 2.43-2.80 Very Low-High Break Point
Recommended Lane Condition:
Any Typical League Pattern
A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are
normal
Description: With Momentum's
new NE2 coverstock, more of the ball surface meets the lane. The result is
better friction, resulting in greater control in any oil condition. The
Momentum comes polished, so its energy is conserved until it reaches the end
of the oil pattern. This ball was designed for today's league bowling
conditions. It's the dominant league ball that's missing from your bag.
This is my first 15 pound ball and was
recommended by Ricky Warren. It is a ball Ricky used for about 10
games

Roto Grip Cell Bowling Ball -
High Performance
Coverstock: Cytoplasmic™
Solid Reactive
Weight Block:Nucleus™
Ball Color: Turquoise / Navy
/ Black
Ball Finish:2000 Abralon
Hook Potential: 7" + (High)
on a scale of 1-10 Low-High
RG Differential: 0.048
(Medium-High Flare) on a scale of .000-.080 Low Flare-High Flare
RG Average: 2.52
(Medium-Low) on a scale of 2.43-2.80 Very Low-High Break Point
Recommended Lane Conditions:
Heavy Oil
A few tiny pit holes in the cover stock of the ball are
normal
Description: The all-new
Cell™ is an evolutionary design infusing our highly advanced asymmetrical
Nucleus™ core with our Cytoplasmic™ solid reactive coverstock. This
combination sustains high differential throughout the lanes and produces
continuous hook on the heaviest oil patterns.
This is my second 15 pound ball and was
recommended by Ricky Warren. It is a ball that should allow for a deep
inside line with a strong finish. The higher rev rate with the 15
pound ball allows for a stronger finish on heavy oil conditions.

Columbia 300 Arch Rival Bowling Ball -
High Performance
Color: Red/Green/Black All
colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown.
Core: "Spinner"
Core Type: Symmetric
Veneer: "300 Plus" - Reactive
Surface: 4000 Abralon
Hook Rating: Oil - 37, Backend - 28
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
Description: Introducing the ARCH RIVAL from
Columbia 300. The perfect ball designed for the most detailed of league
bowlers. With more length, better backend and superior surface texture, the
ARCH RIVAL provides optimal strength down the lane, making it easier to use
no matter what the league pattern. Bottom line: it’s the perfect combination
of power and control needed to perform at the highest level in today’s
environment.
This is my third 15 pound ball and was
drilled by Tommy Jordan. I purchased this ball based on some recent
excellent games bowled with the Cell. This ball that should allow for a
good
inside line with a strong finish and not grab as soon as the Cell providing
an angle that will be easier to throw on conditions other than Heavy Oil. The higher rev rate with the 15
pound balls provide a stronger finish this ball will do it on more varied
conditions.
