CARSON HOLLOW is the 2002 New York Bred Horse of the Year, Champion Sprinter and Champion Three Year Old Filly.  Her Breeder, Trainer and Jockey also were voted the leaders in their categories.  CARSON HOLLOW and her connections won an astonishing 6 New York Breeders' Champion Awards.  What a Filly !!!!!!

I was very proud to have been able to offer a co-ownership in the Grade One Stakes Winner CARSON HOLLOW.  Hemlock Hills Farm et al, had empowered me to offer a  percentage interest in this wonderful filly in a format that provided the buyer with a very fair deal.  As always, I was proud to offer a deal which was good for the seller and fair for the buyer. Mr. Stronach purchased sixty percent of this wonderful filly and obtained the right to race Carson Hollow in his colors for the  Grade One Test Stakes at Saratoga run on July 27, 2002 and beyond.  I will continue to leave this section on my website as a representation of what can be achieved in our business between between parties that seek to do business that works for the buyer and the seller alike.

In the 2002 Test Stakes-G1, Carson Hollow showed her class in losing by the smallest possible margin to You.  The Carson City lass set fractions of 21:3; 44:1 and 109:3 on a track that was getting slower with each race run over it, before surrendering the lead by a head bob at the wire.  She showed more class in her narrow loss then in her four victories.  I have to believe that Frank Stronach, a true sportsman in my judgment, got his money's worth when he bought the wonderful filly.  She died not to long ago and NYRA now runs a stakes race in her honor. The next page in her career should be another great adventure. 

In Thoroughbred Horse Racing as in our daily lives, history can serve as a strong guideline to the future. Fillies who have won certain races have gone on to become foundation mares.  In taking a look at the Prioress Stakes winners, we find a remarkable group of fillies who went on to become foundation mares and champions.  The Prioress Stakes was first run in 1948.  When Carson Hollow won the 2002 renewal of the Grade One Prioress Stakes, she joined extremely elite company.  Her death denies all of her fans the chance of ever seeing her progeny run.

Many breeders contend that the way to produce a great horse is to breed a fast mare to a staying stallion. Just after the Test Stakes-G1, Carson Hollow was beaten only once and that by about one inch by You in her five race career and her charts indicate that she has been on the lead at  every point of call in her five races except in the final step of her narrow loss in the Test Stakes-G1.  Her 108:3 time in the Prioress Stakes, which earned her a 103 Beyer Number, is the second fast time ever run in that important Grade One test. 

Carson Hollow was an extremely attractive filly with a very powerful hind quarter quite often seen in horse sired by Carson City.  She was taller and "leggier" than typical Carson City progeny and had an extremely attractive head and an excellent disposition.
