RACE RECORD :
Badge of Silver
Through his first 13 starts has posted 6 wins,
3
seconds and earnings of $680,8925.
Badge of Silver was very highly ranked as a
classic contender following his 10 length romp in Grade Three Risen Star
Stakes. He appears to have returned to his top form with a strong
second in a very hotly contested Cigar Mile-G1, followed by a courageous
efforts in the Hal's Hope-G3 at Gulfstream and the New Orleans Handicap-G2
at the Fairgrounds and a gallant second in the National Jockey Club
Stakes-G3. He is currently pointed in the direction of the Metropolitan Mile
Handicap-G1.

PEDIGREE EVALUATION :
When you combine the speedy Dosage Index
of 4.00 (DP = 10-2-8-0-0 ))
of Silver Deputy, with the Dosage Index of 1.36
(DP = 2-3-20-1-0)
of
Silveroo, the dam Badge of
Silver, you get a horse with
speed on top of stamina. The Cigar Mile-G1 showed exactly that
combination at work, as Badge
of Silver closely tracked true
sprint fractions (22:1, 44:1, 108:1) and then gathered himself to close on
the leader as he finished second in that hotly contested event. The
Dosage Index of the versatile
Badge of Silver is 1.91
(DP = 5-0-11-0-0)
which explains why he has won a Grade Three event like the Hal's Hope
Handicap contested at 1 and 1/8 miles, twice. Now it is time to see
what he can do running back against the rivals at the top of his class as
Badge of Silver
attempts to justify the great reputation that was accorded him as a three
year old in the 2003 American classic picture.
MALE LINE:
Silver Deputy is the sire of
Badge of Silver
and is himself a product of one of the more established North American
pedigree crosses of Northern Dancer over Mr. Prospector. Silver Deputy
is a son of Deputy Minister, among the more influential branches of the
Northern Dancer line out of a Mr. Prospector mare.
Silver Deputy is truly an over
achiever since he earned only $41,820 while racing with 2 wins in 2 starts
including a victory in the listed Swynford Stakes as a two year old.
He has sired dual Champion Silverbulletday ($3,093,207), multiple Canadian
Champion Deputy Inxs ($790,559), Canadian Champion Archer's Bay
($666,200), Dual Canadian
Filly Champion Deputy Jane West ($593,410),
Dual Canadian Champion Scotzanna
($571,569), Two Year Old Canadian Champion Filly
Poetically
($561,158), etc. Silver Deputy is already the sire of a
total of 58 stakes winner and earners of over $52,000,000. Silver Deputy is
a bargain at his present stud fee of $40,000 for 2005. You can visit
Silver Deputy at his website at

him.
FEMALE LINE:
This is the female family of Triple New
York Fillies Triple Crown Series winner Mom's Command, and Cormorant, I'm
Splendid, Good Behaving, Court Ruling, and Bag of Tunes, all major Grade One
Stakes Winners.
More directly stated, Silveroo is a
winning full sister to Formidable Lady, a stakes winner of $479,825
and also she is a half sister to two graded stakes placed winners in Hey Pat
and Wall St. Girl.
The second dam of
Badge of Silver
is the Stakes winning Hey Mama.
There are enough stakes winners and stakes quality horses in this pedigree
to make an attractive package for any breeder who is considering
Badge of Silver
as a stallion prospect.
Silveroo is inbred 3S x 4D to Hail to
Reason and Badge of Silver
is inbred 5S x 5D to Nashua.
AVAILABILITY:
Badge of Silver
joined Roses in May, Kitten's Joy, and Nothing to Lose in securing the
Ramsey Stable of Ken and Sarah Ramsey, the Eclipse Championship as Leading
Owner of 2004. Inquires are accepted regarding future arrangements for
2007 season to the this versatile,
quality racehorse that possesses amazing raw speed coupled with the
durability to win over a distance of ground. Just watch the 2004 Cigar
Mile-G1 and you can see for yourself, qualities in a racehorse that make him an
exciting new stallion prospect for the future. There is more racing to come and very soon at
that. Based on his pedigree and the success of his sire Silver Deputy,
Badge of Silver
should be a progenitor that can sire horses that run at any distance on
the dirt or on the turf. He is scheduled to take up future stallion duty at
Ramsey Farm.
AVAILABILITY:
If we are to follow the successful breeding patterns of Silver Deputy, we
are able to come up with a sensible pattern of what type of pedigrees would
suite
Badge of Silver
best. The introduction of the Bold Ruler line, especially with Bold
Ruckus has been very productive. Cornish Prince and Spectacular Bid
have also had success, but one would think that the cross with the
Bold Ruler line is an excellent cross for
Badge of Silver. The
complete outcross concept is given strong support by the fact that
Silverbulletday is out of a Tom Rolfe mare out of a Quadrangle mare.
There are three Fappiano mares that have produced stakes winners by Silver
Deputy, so that is the desired approach for inbreeding to Mr. Prospector, a
concept that I do like to avoid when Fappiano is not the route for that
inbreed. Inbreeding to Raise a Native and Northern Dancer is certainly
an acceptable approach as well. |
