WILD WONDER is an absolutely fantastic looking
thoroughbred who was always regarded a a top class horse from the onset. He
won his first four starts and never gave a bad account of himself in any
race in which he competed. WILD WONDER provides the qualities most necessary
for a stallion to succeed at stud. His soundness, speed, and versatility
were demonstrated in his campaign that saw him compete throughout the United
States.
RACING & PEDIGREE ANALYSIS
WILD WONDER ,
earned $639,036 during his racing career. He was a winner in his only start
at two and can boast a record of 9 wins, 5 seconds and 4 thirds, 1 fourth
and 1 fifth from his 20 starts, winning or running second or third in 16
stakes races and never failing to earn a payday whenever he raced. Always
regarded as an exceptional runner by the racing fans, WILD WONDER only went
post wards at odds of more than 4 to 1 on one occasion and that was at 4.40
to 1 in the Grade 3 Riva Ridge Stakes. That race required he ship cross
country for that appearance at Belmont Park.
The seven time Stakes Winner
captured the prestigious Mervyn LeRoy Handicap-G2 by 5 ½ lengths and won the
Longacres Mile-G3 under top weight in the fast time of 1:33:1, setting a new
record. In the Longacres Mile he set the 6 furlong fraction of 1:08:3. He
also demonstrated his sprinting talents while winning the Pheonix Handicap
under top weight running leading at the 5 furlong mark in 56:0 and finishing
the 6 furlongs event in 1:08:3. He was beaten a neck in a time of 1:08:1 in
the Bay Meadows Daly City Handicap confirming that running 1:08 times were
always within his reach. He confirmed his versatility running successfully
and winning or placing in stakes competition at Hollywood Park, Belmont
Park, Aqueduct, Bay Meadows, Emerald Downs, Golden Gate Fields and Turf
Paradise.
WILD WONDER met top class horses
throughout his entire racing career and finished ahead of such outstanding
runners as Event of the Year, River Keen. Budroyal, Crypto Star, Crafty
Friend, Hal’s Pal, Worldly Ways, Mud Route, Statesmanship, General Royal, on
other top runners on various occasions
WILD WONDER’s pedigree has the
unusual nicking pattern of Nearctic on top with Crimson Satan on his distaff
side; the same nick as Leading Sire Storm Cat. His dam, Carol’s Wonder is a
stakes placed half sister to millionaire, grade one winner and successful
sire Olympio and also to Del Mar Debutante-G2 winner Call Now who like WILD
WONDER is also sired by Wild Again. Another example of a Nearco Line
Stallion from a distaff presence of Crimson Satan is the highly successful
Mt. Livermore.
It is very important to note
that Wild Again has had success with an extremely diverse range of distaff
sire lines to include Deputy Minster (Sarava-G1 Classic), Nalees’ Man
(Wilderness Song-G1), Plugged Nickle (Wild Rush-G1), Raise a Native
(Elmhurst-G1), Inverness Drive (A Wild Ride-G1), Ramahorn (Wild
Escapade-G1), as well as many other stakes winners represented by the
distaff sire lines of Secretariat, Faraway Son, Northfields, Lord At War,
Nodouble, Alysheba, Pago Pago, Gleaming, Best Turn, Private Account, Little
Current, Key to the Mint, Nuruyev, Cox’s Ridge, Sovereign Dancer, Broadway
Forli, Vigors and Whitesburg, etc. Such success is indicative of the value
of out cross breeding in the American thoroughbred with the contemporary
sire hot sire lines.
WILD WONDER may well be the
individual with the best opportunity to continue the Wild Again tradition
sine he presents a wonderful opportunity to breed a stallion with the non
traditional presence of the extremely
important Crimson Satan in his distaff side of the pedigree. Wild
Again is quickly becoming represented by numerous sons at stud with about 30
stallions currently vying to continue his sire line.
WILD WONDER, the rocket like speed ball, is one of
those horses who rarely comes along that provides breeders with the
combination of incredible physical appearance, top quality racing ability,
remarkable versatility, and a superior stallion’s pedigree on the distaff
side so useful today for providing a sound, and outstanding out cross sire
line. All of this is offered at a very reasonable price furnishing breeders
with a genuine opportunity to make money and produce solid racehorses.
